Goal
Implement 214 NetID
Purpose
For all the various technology services and platforms at FVEC there are numerous “login” servers in place to manage these accounts and services. Keeping track of all these accounts is difficult for staff and students and is very challenging to manage. By consolidating the directory services data we will be able to fully integrate Macs and PCs as well as many other network services and countless other web-based applications.
Creating staff and student accounts
All staff and student NetIDs will be created and stored in the new 214 NetID server. Staff and student naming conventions will be implemented according to the district standards.
Student NetID
Each student’s District 214 NetID will use the student’s lastname and their student ID number:
lastname+studentID
Staff NetID
Each staff member’s District 214 NetID will use the same naming convention implemented last year in FirstClass:
firstname.lastname (up to 15 characters).
Password Policies
The password polices will be undergoing review and will hopefully be updated soon.
A new password policy for NetID accounts for staff members only will take effect on March 4, 2008. More information regarding this matter will be posted here and also distributed to ATCs and TSSs in each building. Stay tuned.
